Madison County, located in southeastern Missouri, was created in 1818 and named for President James Madison. This volume contains a brief history of the area from the beginning of the county up to the time of the original publication in the mid-1880s. The family sketches were presented by the families themselves, therefore, they are more accurate than some other sources.
