Roane County is one of the important counties in east Tennessee due to many immigrants passing through here traveling west. This was the jumping off place as the last area of protections from the Indians by the military at Fort South West Point. From here the early travelers had to take a boat south through the Cherokee Nation or over land across the Cumberland Plateau. Many of the stopped here for a time waiting on a larger group to travel with for mutual protection. This land entry book gives the information on the lands taken up by the various persons with warrants. This is a full transcription of each of the records in this volume.
