Fayette County, located in west Tennessee on the Mississippi border, was part of the state to come through the Jackson Purchase of land following the removal of the various tribes of Indians in the southeast. These are the first records of marriages for the area beginning in 1838 and going up to about the middle of the 1850s. Like all Tennessee marriages, these records contain only the names of the bride and groom with the date the license was issued following by the name of the official and the date of the wedding itself. Contains over 4,500 names.
