Grainger County, found in east Tennessee, was formed in 1796 out of Knox and Hawkins Counties. It was named for Mary Grainger Blount, wife of Governor William Blount, then Governor of the Territory South of the River Ohio. These records include the names of the brides and grooms as well as the names of any Bondsmen, Witnesses and Officials if they are given. Included in these records are the dates the license is issued and the date of the wedding if given. Not all entries have all of the details but what is showing in the official records are recorded here for research.
