Greene County, Tennessee County Court Records, 1802-1804

$18.50

Greene County, one of the older counties in Tennessee located in the middle east section of the state was created in 1783 from the original Washington District of North Carolina. It was named for Major General Nathanael Greene of the Continental Army from Rhode Island. The area was developed from the "Nolichucky settlement" established by pioneer Jacob Brown on land leased in the early 1770s from the Cherokee. These county court minutes reflect an important time in the history of the county as they give details of the everyday running of the county. Here are many people coming to court for the usual activities within a county.
