Pecos County, found in southwestern Texas along the Pecos River, was the site of the Chihuahua Trail connecting Mexico's state of Chihuahua with Santa Fe, New Mexico. This trail brought many travelers through the Comanche Springs area of the county beginning as early as 1840.
