Halifax County located on the North Carolina border about mid-way across the state was created in 1752 from the lands of Lunenburg County. This 1810 tax list is a substitute for the missing 1810 census for the county and gives the names of the head of the households. In addition, there are listed the numbers of white tithables, the number of slaves over 12 years of age and the number of horses owned by the household.
