Monroe County, West Virginia was a part of Virginia at the time these wills were started in 1799. Later the state of West Virginia became a separate state. These wills, for the most part, are abstracted, but in some cases, the original is reproduced here. A will gives a lot more information than just the name of the deceased. The records are great for genealogical research.
