Barbour County, West Virginia History and Biographies

$12.50

An act adopted by the General Assembly of Virginia on March 3, 1843 created Barbour County named in memory of Philip Pendleton Barbour. Some however, say the honor of the name goes for James Barbour, Governor of Virginia 1812-1815, but the act stated that it was named in honor of Philip Pendleton Barbour, statesman. The biographical section of this material was submitted by the families themselves, therefore, the information should be more correct than some other sources.
