Greensville County was established in late 1780 by act of the Virginia legislature, and it began to function as a political unit early in 1781. A total of 1734 marriage records (of which more than 700 include ministers' returns) are contained in this current volume, drawn from original sources and microfilm of original sources in the Virginia State Archives.
