This book was derived from the Perlee Collection which is housed at Dennis Memorial Library in Newton, New Jersey. Written permission to publish this collection was given to the authors by the Newton Library Association, owners of the collection. Information for the years spanning 1814-1895 was compiled by Deborah L. Mole during her tenure at the Dennis Memorial. Her efforts, four boxes of index cards, were entered into a database, along with the succeeding years, 1896-1903, in the summer of 2005 and edited to form this publication. Divided into two sections, Section I gives marriage records for the years 1814 to 1892 which were collected from local newspapers for approximately 4,500 individuals from the county. The entries give the date of marriage as well as the names of the brides and grooms. Section II was taken primarily from local newspaper obituaries for residents of Sussex County and the surrounding regions ranging from 1814-1903. There are about 13,500 obituary entries listed alphabetically by the name of the deceased. Entries provide the date of the obituary, title, name, age, town of residence as available. The cause of death is mentioned in a few incidents. Surname index.
