Because of the historical significance of this volume, detailed attention has been given to the colonial records found in this publication. Containing extant records from April 28, 1832 through February 20, 1837, this rich research resource begins with a brief history of Brazoria County, Texas followed by a potpourri of genealogical records. With everything from marriages to land records, estates, bonds, contracts, and probate actions, the inventory is divided into four groups on the basis of contents:
- Land Records: Two Volumes: Record of Spanish Deeds and Transcribed Spanish Records
- Marriage Records: Bonds, Agreements, and contracts. Records begin in 1829 and end in approximately 1836.
- Estates: Cases probated or containing instruments prior to February 28, 1837.
- Court Records: Law Suits, Arrests, Probate Matters, etc.
Once the file number, date, or claim number is known, additional information may be available from the Brazoria County Clerk.
