Lavaca County, Texas was created in 1846 from Gonzales, Colorado, Victoria and Jackson Counties. It was named for the river of the same name. The first county seat was called Petersburg, later named Halletsville from a pioneer family of that name in the area. This volume consists of two alphabetical listings, one for the grooms and the other for the brides. Each of these listings includes the names of the groom and bride as well as the date of the marriage.
