Menard County was created in 1850 but not organized until 1871 out of lands from Bexar County. These early marriage records start in 1876 and go to 1893 and represent, probably, the earliest surviving marriages for the county. The book contains two alphabetical listings. The first one is for the grooms and shows the name of the bride and the date of the wedding. The second is for the brides and shows the name of the groom and the date of the wedding.
