The county of Goliad, Texas was created in 1837 from the Goliad Municipality. The marriage records prior to 1870 have been lost for some reason. Therefore, these are the first records to be found for that area of the state. Each entry in the listing of marriages contains the date the license was issued, the names of the grooms and the brides.
