Howard County, Missouri, located in the upper central portion of the state, was created on 13 January 1816 from lands taken from St. Charles and St. Louis counties. It was named for Benjamin Howard, Congressman from Kentucky, Governor of Missouri Territory and a Brigadier General in the War of 1812. This volume contains a brief history of the county, Circuit Court records 1816-1818, Tax papers 1817 - Petition for 1819, County Court Book B 1822-1823, Marriages from 1850-1871 and a Death Register 1883-1887. Putting all of these records together will enable the researcher to have many facts at their fingertips.
