Howell County, Missouri, located on the southern border of the state was created on 2 March 1857 and named for Josiah Howell a pioneer settler in the Howell Valley. The court house burned in the 1860s and so most of the very early records have been lost. This volume contains a brief history of the county, the Marriage Book A 1867-1871, Probate Records 1866-1882 and the enumeration of dogs in 1880.
