Lawrence County, Missouri, located in the south west portion of the state, was established in 1843 from Barry and Dade Counties. It was named for James Lawrence, an American naval officer best known for his last words - "Don't give up the ship!" In this volume of county records, we find a brief history of the county, Abstracts of Will Book No. 1 1846-1884, and Marriages Book A 1845-1855 and Book B 1856-1860, with names of the officials.
