Reynolds County, located in the southeastern portion of the state was created 25 February 1845 and named for former Governor Thomas Reynolds. This area of the Ozarks foothills is known as the “Lead Belt of Missouri”. In this volume you will find a brief history of the county and a list of the lands forfeited to the state in 1860 for non-payment of taxes in 1859. This latter item gives an interesting listing of some of the citizens of the county in that time period.
