Wayne County, Missouri Records
Wayne County, located in the southeastern section of Missouri was created on 11 December 1818 and named for General “Mad” Anthony Wayne of the American Revolutionary War fame. In these records, you will find a brief history of the county, and an abstract of the 1840 U.S. Census of the county. The way this latter piece is presented, it is a great index for the original census as it is listed just as the original 1840 census is given.
