This is a reprint of this volume originally published in 1885 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Publishing House of Nashville, Tennessee. This is a delightful little short history of the area that is now Hardin County. Many of the stories are from a time that most historians today have only found in this small book. The real key chapter is that of the battle of Shiloh fought in the county during the Civil War. At the time of the writing of the history, many of those who participated in the battle would still be alive and could give details and insights that most will never know of that battle. This small volume will help the outsider to gain a quick toe hold on the history of this west Tennessee river county and its people.
