$13.00

Goliad County was the site of the first declaration of independence for the Republic To Texas signed on December 20, 1835. The county was later created on 17 March 1836 from the Old Mexican Municipality. The area was the site of two major battles in Texas struggle for independence, i.e. The Battle of Coleto and the more famous Goliad Massacre where Colonel James Fannin and his Texan soldiers were executed by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. In this volume, you will find a brief history of southwest Texas and a collection of biographical sketches of people living in the county in 1890 when the original volume was written.
