Located in the Ozark region of the state, Greene County, Missouri was created in 1833 from Crawford and Wayne Counties. Due to Missouri being a Slave state, settlers began showing up in the area around the 1820's from the Southern states such as: Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. This volume contains biographical sketches of some 523 individuals in these counties and genealogical data on some 2,000 other families / individuals. These persons were not only from VA, TN, NC, and KY but also had large numbers of settlers from OH, PA, IN, IL, and MO along with lesser quantities from the states of DE, GA, IA, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NY, VT, WI, and WV.
