This study is a continuation of a former study made by Charles Francis Cocke entitled Parish Lines: Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. The two studies together cover approximately two thirds of the parishes of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Virginia embraced within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The purpose of this study is to show the creation of the counties and the parishes and how through the years the counties and parishes have fitted into the pattern of control of the civil and religious life of Virginia. An valuable research tool for those interested in exploring their family history and genealogy.
