This volume begins by naming the Texas counties where confederate officers organized companies to serve their country in the Civil War. Immediately following is the heart of this wonderful Texas publication: a complete list of Texas Confederate officers underscored by their service record.

Dedicated to the Bonnie Blue Flag Chapter #1852 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the purpose of this publication is threefold:

1. To pay merited tribute to the TEXAS boys, who, most of them gently born and nurtured, left home, family, friends, fortune behind and entered into the Confederate Army, to fight for the cause of the South.

2. To aid the men and women of the South who, under the names of the Sons of the Confederacy and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, have organized local societies throughout the State of Texas to help the poor and sick and to relieve the distressed.

3. To keep the memory of the Confederate Soldier who rightfully deserves high honor.
