Dorchester [Massachusetts] Births, Marriages and Deaths to the End of 1825
The Record Commissioners of the City of Boston
In 1879, the City Council of Boston, Massachusetts, moved in favor of a resolution to reprint a deteriorating collection of historical documents pertaining to several towns then incorporated into the city. This new edition makes available for the first time in over 100 years the Twenty-first Report of the Record Commissioners of the City of Boston, containing the birth, baptismal, marriage and death records for the town of Dorchester, Massachusetts. This ambitious volume contains every entry of birth, marriage and death recorded in the town of Dorchester before the end of the year 1825 and found in the office of the City Registrar of Boston. Each page is overflowing with the names of Dorchester men, women and children, dating back as far as the 1640s. An attempt has been made to correct obvious errors and remove duplicate entries, and the text has two indices3/4one for surnames and a short index of place names. Spelling variations have been maintained as they appeared in the original records and all variations are indexed. After 1805, births and baptisms are reported in the same sections.
