Mr. Jackson's work has appeared in a number of publications, such as, The Ozarks Mountaineer, Blue and Gray, Gold Old Days, Ancient American, Capper's Weekly, Back Home, The Ozarks Reader, Route 66 Magazine and others.

He became a staff member of The Ozarks Mountaineer (based in the Branson, Missouri area) which began in 1952 and ended in 2012, and eventually founded The Ozark Reader Regional Magazine and served as publisher and editor from 2004 through 2012.
