This thoroughly documented genealogy covers most of the first five generations of descendants of Burr Harrison through his sons Thomas and Burr Jr., his proven daughter Sybil who married Thomas Whitledge, and two unproven daughters who married Thomas Barton and John Wallis, respectively. While the emphasis is on the male lines, there is also extensive coverage of the Whitledge, Barton, Wallis, Linton, and Calvert families of Virginia, and brief accounts of interconnecting Bullitt, Fowke, Gibson, Gillison, Humston, Peyton, and Quarles families. The families lived primarily in northern Virginia, but some went to South Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio. There is also a short chapter on other, apparently unconnected, Harrison families of Virginia.
