Franklin County, North Carolina Court Minutes, Volume 1, 1785-1789

The work that follows transcribes the earliest extant minutes for Franklin County, North Carolina.  The first six years of court minutes have disappeared into the mists of time.  The text to follow is entirely from Volume 1 of Franklin County's court minutes.  

Court minutes, by their nature, have to be transcribed because they are already summaries of actions before the court.  

Court minutes are the key to official records of the county and often contain information found nowhere else.
