The Deeds of Halifax County, North Carolina, 1786-1796

This is the third volume of deed abstracts for Halifax County.  This work begins Deed Book 16 (1786) and goes through Deed Book 17 (1796).  The Constitution of the United States is a part of this period.  One of the interesting points to note is the very gradual appearance of United States currency:  Even in 1796, the use of the British system remained in the majority of the transactions.
