This CD-ROM includes electronic image reprints of four important works on the history and genealogy of the Lebanon Valley area of Pennsylvania. The author weaves the story of the early settlement of this valley in east-central Pennsylvania by using historical landmarks as a central theme. He covers both secular and church affairs, with particular attention to the Lutheran Church. (1895). Marriage and Death Notices Transcribed from the Pages of the Lebanon Valley Standard, 1871-1879 - Robert A. Heilman. The records abstracted here came from the "Lebanon Valley Standard." The events reported occurred mainly in Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill counties in Pennsylvania. This collection is particularly important because the State did not mandate the recording of vital statistics by civil authorities until 1885. (1995) Marriages (1832-1864) Reported by "Der Libanon Demokrat," A German Language Newspaper Published at Lebanon, Pennsylvania - Robert A. Heilman. The records abstracted here were originally published in German, but are now available in English. This paper began publishing in 1827, and went out of existence when it merged with the Berks County Zeitung in 1864. The events reported occurred mainly in Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill counties in Pennsylvania, with most being from Lebanon and western Berks counties.
