CD: New Hampshire Provincial Probate Records, 1635-1771

$49.50

This CD-ROM includes electronic image reprints of nine volumes of early New Hampshire probate records. This set covers all estates settled in the Province of New Hampshire from the beginning down to 1771, and thus is an essential reference for all New Hampshire genealogical researchers. These volumes were originally published (1907-1941) as vols. 31-39 of the New Hampshire Provincial and State Papers series. They contain complete transcripts of all wills, and abstracts of all other papers in the extant files. Each volume has a complete, alphabetically arranged list of estates, and a complete (human-generated) name and place index. Volume 1 has a concise description of the government of the province, and the preface to Volume 9 has information on the founding of the counties and towns, and shows which counties the various towns were in at various times. The books are presented as graphic images, so the user sees the works just as they were originally published. They are intended to look and function very much like "real" books. This is accomplished using the powerful Adobe Acrobat reader which is provided free on the CD for Windows and Macintosh systems. This CD has no electronic indexes, but each volume has a complete, human-generated, index to people and places. In addition, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to move through the books, and from book to book. This CD is best viewed with monitor resolution 800x600 or higher.
