CD: Hartford, Connecticut Land Records, 1639-1688 and Births, Marriages and Deaths, 1644-1730

$19.95

This volume contains a verbatim transcription of all the extant early land records kept by the town of Hartford from 1639 down to about 1688.. They record original grants of land by the town and subsequent transfers. In addition to naming the grantee and grantor, they frequently name adjoining land owners and witnesses to the transactions, thus making this volume an excellent source of names of residents. Also included are about fifty pages of births, marriages and deaths as recorded in the back of the land record book. While not complete, these vital records are of great value to genealogists. There are also a few pages listing stray animals and their owners. This work is reprinted from Vol. XIV of the collections of the Connecticut Historical Society where it appears under the misleading title, Original Distribution of the lands in Hartford Among the Settlers, 1639.
