The Descendants of Thomas White, of Marblehead, and Mark Haskell, of Beverly, Mass. (With a Brief Notice of the Coombs Family)

$1250

The intermarriages between the White, Haskell and Coombs families, from their earliest notice, cannot fail to attract the reader with uncommon interest; and it is a leading motive that such an arrangement of these families in their order has been introduced, to show this long existing affinity between them.

It is regretted that the history of the first Thomas White cannot be traced farther back with certainty, as a suspicion exists in the mind of the compiler that he is not the earliest representative of his race in this county.

The complete identification of the first Mark Haskell of Marblehead with the Haskells of Beverly was attended with a long and rather perplexing research, the elucidation of which is shown in the proper place, and was the result of a sudden flash of thought while engaged about another matter.

In committing this book to the reader's attention, the hope is cherished that further investigations by others will throw more light upon the earlier history of these families; and that the work in all its branches and details will eventually be carried on to successful completion.
