Contains both the lineage and a biography of Joseph Funk, 1778-1862. Born no doubt in Hilltown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where both his father (Henry) and his Uncle John lived. He was married twice, first to Elizabeth Rhodes (Roth), a Bishop's daughter, and then to Rachel Britton. The first marriage lasted almost ten years, terminating with Elizabeth's death in 1814. The second marriage took place the same year. Following Rachel's death in 1833 he did not remarry. Altogether his wives gave his fourteen children. Joseph was born with a rare gift, for he was filled with and overwhelmed by music, which he studied, taught, composed, collected, etc.
