This book is a compilation of census records of Montgomery County, Maryland, for the year 1880, covering the free inhabitants of the eight election districts then existing: Cracklin, Clarksburg, Medley, Rockville, Berry, Darnestown, Bethesda, and Mechanicsville. The records contain dwelling houses numbered in the order of visitation; families numbered in the order of visitation; name of every person who lived with the family on the day of the enumeration; race; sex; age and place of birth; relationship to head of household; marital status; and profession. Spelling variations are noted in the records by the author. An index of full names is included with cross-references between spelling that is recognizable in the present-day and what was recorded at the time of the census.
