Bloody Red to Navy Blue

$38.00

This book, Bloody Red to Navy Blue, takes its name from the red blood that flowed into the Muddy Brook near Deerfield, Massachusetts, on September 18, 1675, in King Philip’s War. Four men in my family were killed there in an ambush by the Indians. The book begins with the story of my ancestor, Captain John Johnson, who came to Boston in 1630. It continues with the history of my own adventures for nearly 35 years in the Uniformed Services — in the Marine Corps, the Public Health Service, and in Navy blue. I then look back on the service of others in my extended family over a period of 400 years. I remember others who I have known in uniformed service. In the final part, “On War,” I offer my reflections on the causes of war and of its consequences.
This is the latest book from a three-time winner of a Finalist’s Medal from Indie Book Awards.
