This volume is the sixth in a series devoted to presenting a transcription of the surviving serial manuscript records for the town of Wilmington, Essex County, New York, in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains. The enclosed transcriptions are for all existing cemeteries in the town of Wilmington, 1804-2003. The information is drawn from readings of cemetery markers, as well as from records on file at the town of Wilmington's Clerk's office, and from previous readings, especially those undertaken in 1982 and 1984. In a few cases, monuments have been placed in a cemetery for those still living. For example, a monument for Maurice and Marjorie Morris Fletcher exists in Hazelton Cemetery, with birth dates, but no death dates, since as of 2003 both were still very much alive. In some cases, markers known to have existed have disappeared. Where that is the case, there is an entry noting this, e.g., Harry MacDonald, "cannot locate stone." By capturing all extant serial records for Wilmington, the genealogist and family historian with Wilmington ancestors can reconstruct a fuller portrait of their ancestors. Entries typically contain (as available): the full name of the deceased, date of birth, age at time of death, date of death, and comments. The "Comments" field may contain the name of a spouse, parent or other relative; and/or other biographical data. A fullname index adds to the value of this work.
