The abstracts are arranged chronologically, with an index to the several thousand names included in this work. These obituaries may be the only record of death for many residents of Ulster and Greene Counties, NY, and surrounding areas as they precede the New York State civil collections of death records. As secondary source material, they form an invaluable resource for the genealogist, noting deaths as far afield in some cases as California and Europe. Audrey M. Klinkenberg, the compiler of this series, is a former president of the Ulster County Genealogical Society.
