Nicholas County, Kentucky 1850 Census

$22.50

This transcription was made from a microfilm copy (M432, Roll 215) of the original census obtained from the National Archives in Washington D.C. An effort was made to decode the handwriting accurately, but the researcher should remember that the spellings of surname can vary and alternatives should be considered when using the index. On the microfilm, District Number 2 preceded District Number 1 and that order had been retained here. The consecutive numbers in the left-hand column are family numbers as given in the census; age, sex, and place of birth are shown in columns to the right. Black or mulatto individuals are identified by the letters (B) or (M) following their names all others were white. The page numbers shown in the text below are those in the original census. These are the numbers used in the index to this volume. All occupations other than Housekeeping and School have been indicated with abbreviations following given names. The value of real estate owned is also shown in dollars. In a few cases the letter K was used to designate thousands of dollars because of limited space.
