Montgomery County, Kentucky was formed in 1796 from Clark County which had been formed in 1792 from parts of Bourbon and Payette counties. This transcription of the 1850 census was made from a microfilm copy of the original obtained from the National Archives in Washington, DC. For the purposes of the census the county was divided into District No. 1 and District No. 2, the only geographical distinctions shown no towns are indicated. The information transcribed shows a household number, surname, given name, occupation, value of real estate, age, sex, and birthplace. Black or mulatto individuals are identified by the letters (B) or (M) following their given names all others were white. The slave census is not included in this transcription. In a few cases the symbol ?K? was used to designate thousands of dollars because of space limitations. The page numbers shown in the columns of text are those in the original census. These are the numbers used in the index to this volume.
