The author has painstakingly indexed the handwritten records of marriages that occurred in Pontotoc County, Mississippi into a very easy to use form. The marriage records from 1867 - 1880 are dubbed the "missing marriages" as these records cannot be found in the Circuit Clerk's office, because they were destroyed by a storm in 1936. However, before the storm, the circuit clerk at the time, D. W. Franks, recorded these records to the Mississippi State Board of Health and they currently are on micro-film. These records are in alphabetical order and include the groom's name, bride's name, date of wedding, and (where available) parents names. Also included is an alphabetical listing of the brides. A good resource for anyone doing research in the Pontotoc County area!
