A Collection of Memorials Concerning Diverse Deceased Ministers and Others of the People Called Quakers

$36.00

In Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Parts Adjacent, from Nearly the First Settlement Thereof to the Year 1878

This volume contains brief biographical articles on 165 Quakers from the areas indicated. Men and women are about equally represented. Most were born between 1650 and 1720, and a large number of these individuals were immigrants to the colonies. Although these articles were intended primarily as testimonies to the good character and good works of the subjects, most contain valuable genealogical data such as dates and places of birth and death, names of spouses or other family members, foreign origins, etc., as well as some mention of their travels and other efforts on behalf of Friends. A brief, full-name index follows the preface.
