This is an abstracted copy of the surviving docket book of the Superior Court, which was replaced by the various County Circuit Courts and the Supreme Court in 1809. The Minute Book or Books for this period either do not survive or have not been found. The importance of this information is that the people named cover all of the area of what is now known as "Middle Tennessee." Many of the people named may not be found in other documents. Arranged in columns, the information includes date, surname, given name, title (plaintiff or defendant, adm., etc.) and, if stated, the charge, plea and rules of the court. The entries appear in chronological order. A full name index, as well as a place index, make it easy to find your Tennessee ancestors.
