The first Baptist church in Maryland was founded in Chestnut Ridge in 1709. The Maryland Baptist Union Association was established in 1836.
This fine little book is valuable for the abundance of names it contains: list of church officers, Sunday school teachers, pastors, etc. It list 56 church histories in chronological order of organizaton. Some histories are quite lengthy, while others are very brief. An appendix contains several biographical sketches of leaders in the Maryland Baptist Community. The text is illustrated with engravings of churches and church founders.
