The purpose of this brief historical study is to examine the origins of the South Georgia Annual Conference of Methodism. It is published by the South Georgia Methodist Historical Society as a part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the South Georgia Conference, 1966-67. Two main primary sources have been used in this study: (1) the Annual Conference Journals of the period, and (2) The Southern Christian Advocate, weekly Methodist paper published in Macon, Georgia in 1866.
