Dade County, located in the southwestern part of Missouri, was named for Brevet Major Francis L. Dade from Virginia who was killed in the Seminole War in 1835. The county was created in 1841 and named for Major Dade in memory of the over 1400 soldiers killed that day in battle. All of these men were buried in three mass graves that have since become the St. Augustine National Cemetery. In this volume, you will find a Brief History of the county, Marriage Book A, 1863-1867, Abstracts of Wills and Administrations, 1841-1867, Discharge papers for Civil War Soldiers, the Wills and Administrations, 1868-1880, and the Death Register, 1883-1884.
