Cass County, located on the western border of Missouri, was created in 1835 and originally named Van Buren County. In 1849, the name of the county was changed to "Cass" in honor of U.S. Senator Lewis Cass of Michigan, who was a presidential candidate at the time. In this volume, you will find a brief history of the county, Abstracts of Wills and Administration Book A, 1835-1845, the 1848 Tax List and Marriage Book C, 1866-1870.
