DeKalb County, located in the northwestern portion of Missouri, was created on 25 February 1845 and named for Major General Johann deKalb, Baron DeKalb, who served in the American Revolutionary War, especially at the Battle of Camden. Baron deKalb previously served in the War of Austrian Succession and the Seven Years War. In this volume, you will find a brief history of the county; Marriage Book A, 1845-1865; Marriage Books B and C, 1867-1878; and the Patrons of the Atlas of 1877. This last item is most important as it gives the names of the residents of each section of the county, their occupation, Post Office, and date from which they migrated and when.
