Crittenden County, located on the Mississippi River in northeastern Arkansas, was created in 1825 from Phillips County. It was named for Robert Crittenden, first Secretary of the Arkansas Territory 1819-1829. This reprint, originally published by Goodspeed Publishing in 1889, contains memoirs and biographies of Crittenden County pioneers. The historical portion of this volume begins with the creation of the county and continues up to the time of the first publication of the material in the mid-1880s.
